Wool & Silk Stain Remover

Which carpets and rugs can I use it on?

It's made for wool and silk carpets and rugs, including hand-knotted, tufted and flatweave. It isn't intended for clothing. For sisal, seagrass, jute or any other fibres, please contact us before treating, as they might need a different approach.

What makes it different from supermarket carpet spotters?

Many general-purpose spotters are alkaline or contain oxidising bleaches, which can strip dye and damage protein fibres like wool and silk. Our Wool & Silk Stain Remover is WoolSafe Approved, mildly acidic, bleach-free and fragrance-free, and helps stop loosened dye from moving onto surrounding fibres, which is essential on fine Persian and Oriental rugs.

Do I need to test it first?

Yes, always. Spray a little on a hidden area, blot with a white cloth and check the cloth for any colour. If colour transfers, don't continue. The rug may have unstable dyes and needs a professional.

How do I use it?

Blot up as much of the spill as you can, spray the stain lightly, leave it for 30 to 60 seconds, then blot from the outside in with a clean white cloth. Never rub. Repeat if needed, pat dry, and vacuum once fully dry. Full directions are on the label and the product page.

Do I need to rinse afterwards?

No. It's designed to dry down cleanly, so you blot, let it dry and vacuum. There's no need to rinse.

Will it remove old or set-in stains?

It works best on fresh spills. Old, set-in or previously treated stains may only partly improve. For valuable, antique or heavily stained rugs, we recommend a specialist rug cleaner or restorer.

How should I store it?

Keep it upright with the trigger closed, out of reach of children, between 5 and 25°C, away from direct sunlight and frost.

Sisal Tannin Stain Reducer

Why is it for trade only?

It's a professional treatment with an eye-damage hazard classification, and it relies on a specific technique: a fine mist, no blotting and fast forced drying. Getting that wrong on sisal can cause colour loss, so we supply it to trained cleaners and restorers who buy in the course of their business.

What does it treat?

The brown tannin marks and browning that appear on sisal, seagrass, jute and other plant fibres after spills, leaks or over-wet cleaning. It also works on browning on cotton and viscose.

I have browning on my sisal carpet. What should I do?

Don't add more water or scrub, as both usually make it worse. Contact a professional cleaner experienced with natural fibres, or get in touch and we'll point you in the right direction.
